All
rods feature the following: |

Beautiful agate
stripping guides. The agate stripping guides are hand made
by a master craftsman. The rings are nickle silver and the agate
insert is thin and polished. The are by far
the most beautiful guides I have found. |

Streamlined
bamboo ferrules. Streamlined bamboo ferrules are the
brainchild of Italian rodmaker, Alberto Poratelli. They are strong, lighter
than metal, and flexible. Poratelli’s design blends the ferrule right into
the rod shaft giving the rod a sleek, unique appearance. Due to their flexibility and light weight,
a three or four piece rod has the smooth casting feel of a one piece rod. |

Wood grips with
contrasting wood accents and complementary reel seat inserts. Our standard grip is made of solid Curley
Maple trimmed with either Black Walnut or Bees Wing Nara. The reel seat
insert is made of the same wood as the grip trim. Mahogany grips (center grip
in photo) and cork grips are also available. I believe wooden grips are
superior to cork. They are more durable. They impart a greater sensivity to
vibrations, particularly important when nymphing. They stop the rod action at
the tip of the grip making the casting crisper. And they are easier to clean.
While some express a concern that wood grips become slippery when wet, I have
not found that to be the case. |

Nickel Silver
reel seat hardware. Both cap & ring and threaded barrel
ring locking hardware are available. Until I started making them, I always
thought cap & ring hardware could easily loosen while casting. I now have
cap & ring on my favorite 7 wt. and the reel stays snugger than when
using the threaded barrel hardware. Live and learn. |
Most of my rods are three piece. They are more
convenient to carry and, because bamboo ferrules are more flexable than metal
ones, these rods cast much like a one piece rod. Rods shorter than 6’3” are
two piece while rods longer than 8’6” are four
piece. All rods over 7’6” are hollow built. |
